AutoCAD Spellcheck
"Did you know AutoCAD has a spellcheck command?"
Spelling and punctuation errors (i.e.: mistakes) in business can impact credibility and profit. Studies have shown that just one spelling mistake can cut a company's sales in half. No matter what your business is, it is important to spend time and effort to mitigate an easily avoidable error.
"Your grammar is a reflection of your image. Good or bad, you have made an impression. And like all impressions, you are in total control." - Jeffrey Gitomer (American author and business trainer).

When it comes to AutoCAD, many people may not realize that there is a built-in spellcheck command that is very simple to use and can also be customized (i.e.: configuration).

SPELL Command
From the 'Tools Pulldown Menu', select 'Spelling'...
From the 'Annotate Ribbon' under 'Text Panel'...
The 'Check Spelling Dialog Box' will open, which provides several options that you can select or adjust.
You can select what content will be searched...
You can specify which dictionary will be used for checking spelling. This option is very useful when checking drawings for international projects/clients...
Examples:
- American English Dictionary - Center (i.e.: 'er')
- Canadian English Dictionary - Centre (i.e.: 're')
Within this dialog box, you can adjust the settings by toggling on/off the respective checkbox for a particular item.
Note: the main dictionary(ies) used for the SPELL command is/are saved under the 'Options dialog box' under the 'Files Tab' in 'Text Editor, Dictionary, and Font File Names'...
Once you have configured the spellcheck command to the required needs, press the 'Start' button...
AutoCAD will review all annotation for spelling errors and report any identified mistakes. As an example, I purposely misspelled 'spelling as slepling' as shown below. Identified spelling errors will be highlighted, allowing the user to select from a list of 'suggestions' (i.e.: similar words spelled correctly). Simply select 'spelling' from the provided list and press the 'Change' button.
Repeat as required....
You can also add a custom dictionary or word's list to AutoCAD, for more information refer to the Autodesk Knowledge Network - CLICK HERE.
